New Area Manager for Belong at Home Warrington

Belong at Home has appointed Nicola Hewitt as the new area manager for its Warrington service. Promoted from her previous role as team leader, she will take on new responsibilities as the service continues to expand to support more people in their homes in the town.

A new brief sees Nicola promoted to head up the team of community support workers, which is based at not-for-profit operator Belong’s Warrington care village. They support tenants of the village’s independent living apartments, as well as people living in the wider community.

Operating in areas local to Belong’s eight dementia care villages across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, and Staffordshire, Belong at Home services help people live as independently as possible with a little extra assistance, including one-to-one personal care, housekeeping, running errands and offering companionship,

Customers of the not-for-profit home care agency can also benefit from use of the village’s amenities, including a bistro, hair salon, gym and therapy suite. There is also opportunity to participate in a varied experiences programme, giving the chance to build new friendships.

Along with their relatives, they also benefit from free access to Belong’s Admiral Nurse service, which provides mental health nurses specialising in dementia care, in association with Dementia UK, to help support people who have been diagnosed with dementia.

The Warrington service is ranked in the Top 20 home care providers in the North West, based on independent testimonials on leading reviews website homecare.co.uk, with a perfect 10 out of 10 review score.

The Belong at Home group also has the distinction of being the only not-for-profit service in the country to be featured in the Top 20 Large & Mid-size Home Care Groups in the UK since 2018.

Nicola has over eight years’ experience as a community support worker, beginning her career after supporting her grandmother, who was terminally ill and encouraged her to pursue a career in care. She joined Belong at Home six years ago and progressed to become team leader before achieving her NVQ Level 5 in health and social care, enabling her to take on her current role.

Earlier in the year, Nicola was shortlisted for the Fabulous Frontline Leader Award at the Stars of Social Care Awards, while community support worker Julie Hooper was highly commended by judges in the Reducing Social Isolation Award category.

Speaking of her promotion, she said: “I’m delighted to continue my journey with an organisation that puts the needs of the customer, rather than those of the business, first. I’m looking forward to supporting a great team to offer this to more people in the local area as the service grows.”
