Nursing Care

Village nursing

All Belong villages are registered to provide nursing care and our approach to the household model is that residents ‘age in place’ and we do not move people if their needs change. This means that nursing care is provided in all households in the village and we adopt a ‘community nursing’ styled approach, where nurses work across the whole village.

Belong nurses use their clinical judgement to help our customers maintain or recover good health, working with customers, their families and professionals to promote wellbeing, provide clinical care and help rebuild confidence and the ability to self-manage as many aspects of life as possible.

Integrated community

We do not segregate people with dementia or nursing in designated wings, instead adopting a person-centred approach to compatibility. This removes the onus to move people if their needs change and brings the care to the person.

Our aim is to provide a ‘home for life’, supporting people in situ as their needs change. Household customers are thus able to build lasting relationships with other customers and colleagues, secure in the knowledge that they won't be relocated simply due to nursing requirements. Nurses visit residents in their household suite to give personalised support in familiar surroundings.

Professional skills development

Belong has a learning agreement in place with the Royal College of Nursing, which ensures good peer support and continued professional development for our nurse teams, over and above the training we provide within Belong.

We also employ dementia specialist Admiral Nurses through our partnership with Dementia UK. These nurses work with customers with dementia and advise their families on strategies to provide effective support.

End-of-life support

In keeping with Belong's 'home for life' commitment, our nurses are highly skilled in end-of-life care. Our villages are accredited in the Gold Standards Framework, with awards for the quality of our approach when it comes to supporting those on an end of life pathway.


In Belong Warrington, Belong works closely with the Enhanced Health in Care Homes Support Team, while Belong Atherton and Belong Wigan continues to access specialist end-of-life training through the Wigan and Leigh ‘Hospice in your care home’ initiative. Belong Morris Feinmann is accredited under the NHS Six Steps Approach to Palliative Care.
