New manager takes the helm at Belong Crewe

Belong has named Caroline Anthony as the new general manager for its Crewe village, marking a step up for the highly experienced care leader.

Her latest career move sees Caroline take the helm following five years as the Brookhouse Drive village’s registered manager with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), responsible for its 24-hour care and nursing provision for 72 residents.

Caroline's inspirational leadership has, to-date, seen the village maintain its status as Crewe’s only CQC Outstanding-rated care home. She was also instrumental in its reaccreditation of the Gold Standards Framework Quality Hallmark Award for end-of-life care provision, as well as supporting colleagues to achieve a number of industry accolades, including wins at the National Dementia Care Awards and the Great British Care Awards.

Among the country’s first graduates for the NVQ in health and social care when originally launched, Caroline built her career in local nursing homes and community home care services, before joining Belong in 2016. Here, she took advantage of the organisation’s comprehensive training and ‘grow our own’ philosophy to realise her ambitions and advance in seniority to general manager.

Caroline Anthony, general manager at Belong Crewe, commented: “It’s wonderful to progress to leader of our village. The career development opportunities at Belong are exceptional and as a result, we have a fantastic team of people who genuinely love what they do and make it the special place it is.”

Caroline’s plans include expanding the village’s experiences and activities programme and raising awareness of its specialist day care service, Experience Days. She will also continue to prioritise investing in people as the village continues to champion the local workforce with extensive training and professional development opportunities for those interested in building a career in care.

Sue Goldsmith, Belong chief operating officer, added: “We’re very pleased to appoint Caroline to head up our Crewe team. Her commitment and determination to customers and her own professional development over the past eight years has created another ‘homegrown’ manager. The achievement is well-deserved and we’re confident she will continue to build on the success of the team.”
