Admiral Nurse
Registered Nurse, Midwife, Diploma in Community Nursing Science, Degree in Nursing Administration & Nursing Education
Bridget is a Registered General Nurse and Midwife and holds a Diploma in Community Nursing Science and a Degree in Nursing Administration and Nursing Education. She is one of two Belong Admiral Nurses, specialist dementia posts, provided in conjunction with the charity, Dementia UK.
Working collaboratively with other professionals, Admiral Nurses offer tailored support for family members and carers, and seek to improve the quality of life for people affected by dementia, helping them to live positively with the condition and develop skills to improve communication and maintain relationships.
Bridget took up this post at Belong after eight years working as Practice Development Facilitator (PDF) at Belong Atherton, where she was responsible for training, mentoring and identifying opportunities for improvement and development to drive standards of care at the village. It was during this period that she developed her professional interest and insight into life for people living with dementia and how best to support them. She continues to advise Belong colleagues on best practice in dementia care. Prior to joining Belong, Bridget worked in various areas of nursing such as medical and surgical units, primary health care and contraceptive services.
