Belong, has partnered with the Morris Feinmann Homes Trust to create a new £12m Belong community care village in West Didsbury. The project, which has now received formal planning consent, will provide specialist care services to the Jewish community in South Manchester, including nursing and dementia care, as well as a range of facilities in the village centre.
The Belong Morris Feinmann village is expected to open by summer 2017 and will comprise six households, each catering for 12 residents in their own en-suite facilities. Every household will have a private lounge, dining room and a kosher kitchen. There will also be 13 new one and two-bedroomed apartments for rent or purchase on the top floor of the village.
The community areas will include a kosher bistro, synagogue, function rooms, library and computer room, hair salon, exercise studio, treatment spa, roof garden and landscaped gardens.
Belong is highly regarded for its innovative care villages across the North West, and its five Belong villages have achieved national and international acclaim. It is this expertise that will go into ensuring that Belong Morris Feinmann is set to be the leading care centre for older Jewish people in the UK, and will be unrivalled as a facility for the Manchester Jewish community.
Nick Dykes, Belong Chief Executive, said: "The Belong Village concept will create a vibrant hub in the heart of the Jewish community and a home for life for its older citizens, replicating the high standard of living and care that Belong is associated with. This latest development will be a great asset to the group and the local Jewish community and will enable us to expand our brand and footprint across the North West.”
Alan Wilkins, chair of the Morris Feinmann Homes Trust, said: "I am confident that Belong Morris Feinmann will build on all the Trust’s past traditions to create a new beacon of care, offering a truly groundbreaking facility for the Jewish community in South Manchester."
Funding for construction of the new care village is being provided by The Royal Bank of Scotland.
